Pastor
David Jorstad is a native Californian. He attended the University
of Redlands, graduating with a degree in History and Music.
After teaching English as a Second Language for San Francisco
Community College he attended Luther Seminary in St Paul, MN.
He received his Master of Divinity Degree in 1985.
Pastor
David served Clairemont Lutheran Church in San Diego for nearly
twenty years. In December 2005 he began serving as Senior Pastor
of San Marcos Lutheran Church. He is excited about the mission
and ministry of this dynamic congregation. One of the most rewarding
aspects of ministry for him is helping people make connections
between their Christian faith and their daily life.
Pastor
David enjoys gardening and music. His wife, Cindy, is a music
teacher at Guajome Park Academy in Vista. They both sing
with the La Jolla Symphony Chorus. Their two daughters are Katie
and Carolyn. Katie is working on her Masters in Social Work
at Boston College, and Carolyn graduated from Cal Poly, San
Luis Obispo with a major in vocal performance.. |

Pastor Karla Halvorson began her ministry at San
Marcos Lutheran on October 17, 2007. She graduated with
her Masters in Divinity from Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary
in May of 2007 and was ordained at San Marcos on December 15th.
She
is married to Rev. James Jerpseth of King of Kings Lutheran in
Oceanside. Pastor Karla and Pastor James have two lovely
children, Kristopher, age 9 and Anna, age 7. Before completing
her theological training, Pastor Karla spent ten years as a social
worker specializing in work with children, youth and families.
Besides preaching, teaching, leading worship and visitation, her
role will be to give special attention to ministry with Children,
Youth and Small Groups.

Karen moved
here from Northern California in 1985. She holds degrees
from UC Berkeley and San Diego State University and is
a credentialed speeh-language therapist. After running
a home-based child care business she returned to school and
studied Early Childhood Education. Karen believes that
preschool is a wonderful place where children
learn, make friends, discover, explore, create and play.
Karen lives in Oceanside with her husband, Ken, and their two
children, Jeff and Justin
